SCORE Lancaster, certified to conduct the nationally known Ewing Kauffman Institute’s FIRST STEP FastTrac® classes, is collaborating with locally well known ASSETS in offering this excellent program for the second time due to the success of the fall 2009 series.
The SCORE FastTrac® First Step program is structured for those who are slightly more advanced and familiar with basic business terms ... compared to those taking ASSETS “Business Management and Design” programs which are geared to business novices.
FastTrac® First Step is targeted for budding entrepreneurs – of all educational and financial levels -- who wish to open their own business in the near future.
A modest tuition for this program starts at $75 and is adjusted for income level and family size. In some cases, the tuition is 100% refundable upon successful completion of the course.
The FastTrac® course offers blended learning (training and mentoring) and covers start-up business basics, such as defining the business and creating a mission statement; researching the market to determine the feasibility of the business idea, including studying the industry and the competition; refining and pricing the product(s) or service; writing a business plan; understanding start-up and first three year cash flow financials; creating a marketing, promotion and sales plan; plus more.
The First Step program is constructed so that upon graduation the student will be able to make a go/no-go decision and finalize a business plan. Historically, FastTrac® graduates have a high start-up success rate.
The FastTrac® First Step program meets Tuesday nights from 6 PM til 9 PM, beginning March 2, 2010. A recognition ceremony for graduates from all the courses is planned for May 18, 2010.
Classes take place at the Earl B. Hess Training Center and computer lab located on the third floor of the ASSETS Building at 237 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA. There is ample free parking nearby.
