Volunteer
Just because you've retired from the business world as an owner or manager doesn't mean that you can't still be active in the business community. SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives needs volunteers to spend a small part of their free time counseling individuals who are thinking of going into business or who have already started one and are encountering problems or need some advice.  It is the greatest transition to retirement.  Keep your mind active, meet professionals like yourself and make an excellent contribution to Lancaster County.

We are looking for men and women with experience in business start-ups, financing, planning, marketing, retailing and merchandising, engineering, technology or other aspects of small business management.

Successful applicants, after a short training period, will become members of a special group of people willing to pass on their secrets of their success to others. Their guidance and support, based on their years of experience in the business world can play an important role in helping small businesses achieve success.

  • SCORE provides new members with training by senior members, to prepare them for counseling clients. New SCORE members may co-counsel with other members to provide additional experience or help a client on a specific issue. Potential new counselors should not worry about not having sufficient experience on all business issues.
  • Members are encouraged to join a SCORE initiative such as marketing, technology, workshops, outreach to name a few of the opportunities.
  • SCORE conducts workshops approximately every two weeks. Members can join the workshop teams to participate and provide follow-up support for clients.
