Background
Small business has become the backbone of the national economy. It is the source of most new jobs being created and the primary training ground for people entering the workforce.

SCORE is the volunteer arm of the Small Business Administration (SBA). We are a non-profit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business throughout Lancaster County. We provide confidential on-to-one counseling, seminars and workshops to help people start and operate successful small businesses.

Ours is one among more than 380 chapters and our volunteer members are among more than 10,000 members, nation-wide, helping clients solve their management problems and create stronger, more efficient businesses.

• The Lancaster SCORE Chapter was established in 1964
• We serve all of Lancaster County
  
• In 2007 we conducted 1,117 free counseling sessions
• 81 business workshops were presented in 2007
• 741 individuals attended these workshops
• SCORE members volunteered 9644 total hours in 2007

What Makes Us Unique
Our one-to-one (or telephone and e-mail) counseling is free service. SCORE is supported in part by the US Small Business Administration.

How It Works
When you request SCORE counseling services, one coordinator assigns a lead counselor based on best fit between your needs and the counselor's experience. You can meet with your counselor at no charge to you.

We use team counseling when the circumstances suggest a need for additional expertise.
